We have just made an adjustment behind the domain names of various customers. The reason for this is that from February the requirements for sending emails will become much stricter. To ensure that business emails from our customers are delivered properly, we have added DKIM security.
What will change in terms of email security from February 2024?
From February 2024, the following requirements will apply in Gmail. This is primarily for senders who send 5,000 or more messages per day to Gmail accounts:
- Verify outgoing emails
- Don't send unwanted or unsolicited emails
- Make it easy for recipients to unsubscribe
As you can see, the rule initially applies to the `large mailers`, or entrepreneurs who send more than 5,000 emails per day. But at Hoogma Webdesign we like to ensure that all our customers can continue to communicate securely by email. That is why we provide the technology behind tomorrow's emails, preferably today.
What does DKIM do to deliver your business emails?
The reason for the stricter requirements in the field of emails is the number of spoofing and phishing messages that are sent daily (literally every second of every day).
Spoofers and phishers work cunningly. They email people from a certain domain name, such as that of your website. The email contains links that people still unsuspectingly click on, only to be scammed or digitally robbed.
How is this possible? These internet scammers falsify the shipping address. For example, From contains a large, well-known domain name.
Gmail therefore quickly throws these emails into the spam box. But also the emails that are genuine, such as from your own domain name.
DKIM can detect whether a message has been changed, and it is also clear whether unauthorized changes have been made to the From email address.

It Setting up DKIM for our customers was quite a job, as this has to be arranged separately for each domain name. How do my sent emails score? Find out with Mail-tester!
To test how your mailings score in terms of security and chance of being delivered, you can use the Mail-tester tool. It works like this:
Send an email to the email address you see here. Mail-tester then checks your email on a number of points, such as content, signature, mail server and sending IP.
You will receive a detailed report stating what is configured correctly and what is not.
